2 months!

In two months Kristen and I will be in ITALY!!! I'm getting so excited! I think I might have finally finalized our itinerary, meaning we can start to book our hotel/hostels.

Today I'm looking at my favorite website when planning European trips, my best friend Rick Steves website. Today I am looking at all the stuff I want to buy, I love the idea of buying thing specially designed for stuff, like the shower caddy. It hold 3 little bottles, has elastic loops for a razor and toothbrush and a convenient hook so that you can hook it in the shower with you plus it is mess so it drys super quick! I don't really need it but it sounds super cool!

Soon I will have to start planning on the 4 outfits that I will bring to last me our 2 week trip; what doesn't wrinkle or show dirt and other fun stuff like that.

My biggest hurdle will be getting Kristen to pack just 1 carry on bag!

Smells like cows in Sunnyside. It's reminding me of football games in high school when the wind was right and you got a whiff of cow, the wind is always right!

OMG I haven't stayed in a Motel in forever! This room smells like a powered old lady! I haven't stayed in a place with your room door to the outside in ages!!
We are finally on our way to lunch of SOPITOS!! How I have missed you Sopitos, it has been a whole year! Then off to the wine fair! Maybe I'll eat some jerky...
We are heading off to Prosser for our 3rd food and wine fair! After a slow start, thanks for the waffles and bacon carmel! Then stopping in Cle Elm for jerky

OMG I'm a lobster! I hung by the pool with some friends and even after sun blocking 3 times in 4 hours I'm a burned mess!! The front of my legs are bright red!!

Busy Morning

This morning was busy with things I needed to do.
First up: I had to check-in for my flight to Spokane tomorrow. Yep I'm going to visit the Fam for the first time this year. I can't wait to get to the heat and no AC at my mom's house! Maybe we will stop by Costco on the way home and I will buy her a window AC. On Sunday I'm going to go and hang out at the Red Lion pool with some friends from work who happen to be going to SpokVegas to enjoy the heat (it takes all kinds). John and Nicole just bought a "pool". Mom says it is the size of a hot tub, to me that doesn't make it a pool. I think I will be chillaxing in there with cutie Elisabeth, who I hear LOVES the "pool" although to her it probably is an olympic size! Then the rest of the time I will being helping my mom stain the back deck!
Second piece of business: I had to buy tickets for my friends and myself to the So You Think You Can Dance Tour that went on pre-sale this morning. Got 4 tickets on the floor! Hopefully it will not be as crazy loud as it was 2 years ago where I was still a little deaf 2 days later!
Thirdly: I have been making sure that everything is all in place and we don't run out of anything here at work while I'm away.
Fourth: I should probably look up bus schedules to get to the airport tomorrow, I'm super bummed that the new light rail isn't open all the way to the airport yet!
Tonight I have to finish straightening up my apartment so that Terry doesn't think I'm a slob when she comes to feed Maggie. Then I should probably pack.

Tori time

Trav and I with his program waiting for the show to start!

Trav and I went to Tori Amos last night. We got the tickets from his niece's boss who was unable to make it, so we got them for a steal! We had pretty good seats, we were in the 12th row, the only problem was that we were on the wrong side of her. She had her back to us a lot of the time. This was the first time that I have ever seen her from this side, when I buy tickets I either get them in the middle or on the right side because I know that she faces that way the most. It was the opening night of her Sinful Attraction Tour, it was fun to be there at the beginning when everything was new. She did a bunch from the new album, which I haven't listened to much, so they were new to me. She also did some classics, like Cornflake Girl, Precious Things, and Crucify. She did an amazing cover of Landslide, it was really great. It wasn't the best concert of hers that I've seen but she was still great!

We saw her at the new WaMu theater by Qwest field, that is an interesting venue, you are just in folding chairs on a flat floor, and I keep expecting someone to either sell me a some Amway or start a conference on synergy. It will be interesting to see how they have the place set up when we go there again to see P!nk!

Here is Tori doing Big Wheel for one of her encores.

You can check out more videos from the concert at here.

I can haz Marinerz?!?

We went to a Mariners game last night, we got the tickets from the icanhazcheezburger website. We got a t-shirt, signed by the founder of the website. Carmel got her picture with him plus her awesome poster that she made to try and win some rally fries, we didn't win. But the Mariners did so that was fun.

My name is Shannon not Sheri

I HATE you Sheri Hernandez!!!
Please pay your bills, stop getting in trouble with the police, pay your bills, and most importantly STOP GIVING OUT MY PHONE NUMBER AS YOURS!!!!
I get one or two calls a month for this dead beat! I love all the debt collection calls I get for her, the lovely slightly angry people on my voicemail. Voicemail that says "Hi you've reached Shannon, I can't get to my phone, I'll call you back." I think I might have to change it to "Hi you've reached Shannon, NOT Sheri Hernandez, if you have a message for Shannon please leave it if you are looking to collect money from Sheri Hernandez THIS IS NOT HER NUMBER AND I DON'T KNOW WHO SHE IS!!!! Please remove this number from your records because it is incorrect!!

Pop Spectacle

I wasn't going to watch the spectacle that is going to be Michael Jackson's Memorial but I work in front of a computer so I thought "why not". Let me start with yes it is sad that he died, but this memorial is a production number more than anything else.

I'm just waiting for it to start and talk of the gold casket has already made a good start to the spectacle.

Here is my live blogging as I'm watching, I wish I had louder volume I can't really hear talking. If I miss anything it because I'm working.

Whoa that is one shinny gold casket!

Do you think Mariah could sing if someone tied her hands behind her back?

Was that the Jackson brothers wearing the most spectacular outfit of a suit and sparkly glove? You are not on tour boys.

The video montage was good.

I enjoyed Jennifer Hudson.

You shouldn't have to watch John Mayer's face while he is playing, what a tool.

Brooke Sheilds is the first person who actually seems moved today. She was really good, she spoke from her heart.

Usher it is inappropriate and disingenuous to wear sunglasses at a funeral!! OMG please don't stroke the casket!! This is the least moving thing I have seen, that was all for show!!

Who is that boy singing?

Who are the people singing We are the World?

I wish I could hear what the family was saying, I’m sure it will be repeated at a million times tonight.

How long do you think it will be until the MJ Memorial CD comes out?

Well it lived up to the Spectacle hype, I sure Michael would have loved it.

Testing

Now you can email an entry?!?

4th of July

This year I spent the 4th of July at Carmel and Chris's house, we had a BBQ and light off fireworks with the rest of the people on their cul-de-sac. It was fun, just like when I was a kid. Some of the neighbors went all out as you can see by the pictures, I mean there where some huge ones! Tony and Jenny stopped by the reservation and bought some for us to light off; Jenny's (who is quite the firebug) loved the bumble bees! It was a fun night, I'm going to say the part that was the funniest for me was when a man down the street started yelling at us that he was an "ex officer and he was going to call the police because it's illegal to light off fireworks!!" I must say that the added excitement of being hauled off to jail was thrilling!! I kept my ears open for the sound of sirens coming, but sadly they never did because we were lighting of the fireworks in unincorporated King County where it is totally legal to light fireworks!! We tried to tell the man but he was not listening to us.

Chillin'

Here is a video of some of the fireworks being set off.

How I love you Johnny Depp!!

I have been in love with Johnny Depp for a long time, his pictures decorated my bedroom walls growing up, his and Brad Pitt. So needless to say I’m excited to see his new movie Public Enemies this weekend. I don’t know if a movie trailer has ever turn me on as quick as the ones for this movie did. Cheese and rice that man is HOT!!

  3. I looked though the garbage for the receipt, didn’t find it!!!
  4. I haven’t been able to connect to my stolen internet since Sunday.
  5. My DVD player is acting up. It sometimes shows this weird error message, I had to googled it on my cell phone, because my aforementioned internet problem. The one bright point was that I fixed it!

You have got to be kidding me!

I'm looking for a hotel in Rome that is by the airport, because our flight out is early and I don't want to pay 50 Euros for a taxi ride. So I'm starting my search on Travelocity and they have listed under a "good buy" the Hilton for $416 a night!!!!
Who the crap is that a "good buy" for?!?!

Run Kitty Run!!!

I love cats!

Grrrr

Thanks to my friend Jenny for cheering me up from my totally grumpy mood today!
Waking up late, missing the bus, popping the lens out of your glasses and people being excessively stupid today is not a great way to start the day off!

A Hangover never felt this good!

We went and saw The Hangover last night, I’m very pleased to say that it was as funny as the trailer! I was a little worried that it wouldn’t live up to the hilarity of the trailer like most comedies, but holy crap it surpassed the trailer! I laughed like a loon most of the entire movie! I wish that the theater would have turned the volume up, hello a comedy in a theater full of people it’s gets a little hard to hear what they are saying. Is it wrong to know want to return to Vegas and do a lot more drinking!?!

Youtube crazy!

I have gone a little mad recently. I am obsessed with searching for old clips of couples that I liked on soap operas on youtube!! It all started innocently enough, Trav and I were talking about how we missed that awful, entertaining and enjoyable soap Sunset Beach, so I thought I would look up scenes of my favorite couple from that show Ben & Meg, and that is when I fell down the rabbit hole. How could I forget Terror Island and the interdiction of Derek Ben’s evil twin! Or Ben’s “dead” wife Maria showing up at his and Meg’s wedding. Or how he hilariously pronounced Maria’s name Marier. I spent an excessive amount of time searching for clip of Ben and Meg, then I thought “wait a minute there were more couples I liked on different shows!”

Then I started looking for vintage Harley and Mallet on Guiding Light, oh god how I loved (no I still love him) Mark Derwin! Who could forget the time that Harley was locking in a root cellar and almost froze to death but Mallet wouldn’t give up the search and finally found her. Of course he had to take there clothes off so that he could use his body heat to warm her up this leading to them making love for the first time. I actually remember watching and rewatching the tape of that when it was originally on! I was sad that I couldn’t actually find that much stuff on these two.

Whoa what about Roman/John & Isabella on Days of our lives! Next up was Cruise of Deception, who could forget this crazy miniseries!?!? I only got to watch a couple of clips of this before I made myself turn off the computer and go to bed because it was 1:45am and I had to get up for work in 4 hours. I did get to see Roman/John running around covered in torn formal wear and covered in soot (why is he covered in soot sure there was a bomb on the boot, but hello you were thrown in to the ocean before you washed ashore I think it would have come off!) with a Rambo like headband!!

I am so ready to continue the search tonight! I have thought of more couples, Max & Luna on One life to live, Brenda & Sonny on General Hospital!!!

Friday, May 22, 2009

More sleep please!!!

Tired, Tired, Tired!! I need to not stay out until 1am when I have to get up at 5:45am to get ready for work!! I’m not sure any amount of caffeine will help this morning. The only thing that I think is going to help is that later today I will be out in the sunshine kayaking with friends!

Dollhouse

I'm sad that Dollhouse will most likely not be picked up for a season 2. The last 5 or so episodes, especially the last 2 were fantastic!! If only it had this awesome of a start!

Star Trek ROCKED!!

We went and saw Star Trek last night and it was GREAT! What a fun movie! Everyone enjoyed it, even my mom who was a fan of the original, I didn't like the original I am a TNG girl myself. I loved the movie and would totally see it again. I did wonder if JJ Abrams watched a lot of Joss Whedons amazing series "Firefly", Star Trek had some of the same feel; filming through thing, shooting at odd angels and lens flares, but JJ did get a little to flare happy, but all in all outstanding movie!!

Carmel's Birthday

Tonight was Carmel's birthday and to celebrate we all went out to eat Hot Pot (my first time). It was fun and tasty, who doesn't like to cook their own food at their table on a cook stove!?! One side is regular broth and the other side was a insanely hot broth, needless to say I didn't eat that one.
Next it was on to Snoqualmie Casino for the Lea Salonga concert. The only thing I knew about Lea was that she was the voice of Jasmine in Aladdin and that was only because Carmel had told me that. I didn't know what to expect from the show. I was pleasantly surprised by what a great show it was. Lea has a great voice, it was like I was on Broadway, which is good because she did sing songs from the different Broadway shows she has sung in.

Jenny, Carmel and Carla then waited in a straight line for Lea to sign their pictures.

They even got to take a picture with Lea.

Twilight time

I have read the Twilight saga, I enjoyed Twilight, hated most of New Moon (not a fan of Jacob), Eclipse was okay but all the crap with Jacob and his pack, boring, Breaking Dawn totally gross ick factor. After seeing previews for the movie version I was less than excited, it looked so cheesy!! So needless to say I didn’t rush to the theaters in my Team Edward T-shirt (which I don’t own) ready to lap up the Edward and Bella drama. Last night I finally watch Twilight, I found it semi enjoyable, but mostly hilarious! I almost fell off the couch a couple of times I was laughing so hard!

The scenes that really killed me:

- The fact that when we first met Eric at school I was thinking “I don’t remember a gay guy in the book”.
- Edwards’s hair!!! What the hell is that thing on his head?
- Jacob’s awful wig
- Edwards face when he caught a whiff of Bella for the first time, come on that was just pitiful!
- Edward and Bella’s first fast passed running scene. Did they just have a picture of a mountain and a picture of Edward and Bella on a popsicle stick that they moved up the mountain?
- Edward “sparkling” in the sun, seriously did they have any CGI money because that just looked like a lot of glitter lotion.
- The angsty filled scene as Edward explains to Bella what he is, it was so angsty that he couldn’t stand still or keep from randomly climbing trees.
- Jasper’s insanely petrified looking face the entire movie, I know he is fighting the urge to feed, but come on!
- The crazy overacting that was done in the final fight scene between Edward and James.

I thought they did a pretty good job being faithful to the book but I did wonder why they changed:

- Why did they have the bad vampires killing so close to and then in Forks?
- Why didn’t they have Bella cooking for Charlie all the time? What was up with going to the diner? Not having her do all the cooking is going to make her reason for not wanting to leave him because he can’t take care of himself hard to sell.

Things that I liked:

- I liked the casting of Bella, Kristen Stewart did a good job.
- I loved Bella’s lullaby.
- They mostly got the emotion from the book into the movie.

Kayaking 09

Melissa and I went kayaking for the first time this year! It was a lovely day, still a little chilly but we had a great time. Good thing we did becuase the weather turned cold again the next day!

We watched this guy pull that chair out of the lake and then paddle off with it, we asked him if he was going to offer rides, he said he was thinking about it.

Happy Birthday to me!!

For my birthday this year went to Todai for my free birthday dinner. I had a great time, I heard that some people didn't have that great of a time (Travis, apparently he doesn't like the food). I don't know how anyone can't be a fan of all you can eat crepes, sushi, crab legs, or any of a number of other things, but to each his own.

My awesome friends gave me some great gifts!!

Dang it, I didn't win $1,000 for life!!!

Pre Birthday Lunch

Carmel, Jenny and I headed to Ipanemas for a meat filled pre-birthday lunch. It was fun to hangout with the girls and chow down on plates of tasty meat!

I can't stop looking at the site!

I find this site so crazy!!! Most things make me sick, but I'm slightly intrigued by this one.

Meatloaf with a layer of Mac and Cheese wrapped in bacon. I could do without the bacon part but the rest sound kind of good.

Whoa, it's been almost a year!

In 2 days time I will return turn to the seen of one of my first blog entries. Yep, it has been almost a year since I have been to Ipanema's Brazilian Grill. Carmel, Jenny and I are going for a pre-Birthday meat celebration!
Pictures to follow!

Darkside!

My slovenly darkside is taking over! My apartment’s messiness is at an all time high, and I can’t seem to make myself clean it up! My plan yesterday, on my day off was to clean the place up. What did I get done? I did the dishes and took out the trash and recycling (my least favorite thing to do, maybe that is why it took 2 trips). Clothes are still everywhere, there is stuff all over the place, and just general clutter.
Seriously I am going to have to do some more cleaning up tonight! That’s right I’m resolving to finish the clean up tonight! (I’ll let you know latter how it goes!)

Vegas here we are!

It was once again time to head to Vegas for some much needed fun in the sun! This trip saw Melissa, Carmel, Chris and I heading off for Sin City, time to drink and party!
Here are the 4 of us on the plane, we all had to work today so we don't get to leave until about 8pm.
Even though Melissa said she was tired we still knocked back 2 drinks each, this is after the prefunk drink I made for the shuttle ride to the airports, we were all feeling no pain!

Melissa taking quick cat nap before we head down to the casino!

Here is Carmel spinning the big wheel for a free prize! Luckily we all just missed out on winning tickets to Lance Burton, we all won $10 in free play!!

Oh look at that cute group chillin' at the Wynn

Here is one of the main reasons for our trip to Vegas, Bette Midler!!

Carmel drinking a Sophie before the great Bette show!

Holy Crap I just won $75.25!!! I love you Mermaids game!!

Freeze this!

I am so sick and tired of the cold weather!! Coming from me that is major, I don’t usually care too much about the weather because I love Seattle’s weather, but damn it I’m tired of freezing every morning!!! This morning I had to put my earmuffs on so that my ears wouldn’t freeze and fall off!! My breath was coming out in puffs so thick you would have thought it was December rather than the last days of March, let me say that again last days of MARCH!! Gggrrr, I’m so glad I’m going to Las Vegas this weekend where it is warm but I just realized that is going to make coming home to freezing weather even worse!!!!

Estelle!

Trav and I headed to The Showbox again to catch another show. This time it was the amazing Estelle! We meet at the Green Room again so that we could get into the show early and not have to wait out in the pouring rain, in the 3 minutes it me to walk from the bus to The Showbox I was drenched. We we finally got into The Showbox we got great seats in the bar and this on the quite side, thank the lord.

Now on to the opening acts, yes acts there where 3!!!

Choklate-good voice but no stage presence and she was boring. She talked about how it was funny that her name was Chokolate but she doesn't like chocolate, and that some chocolate is filled with nuts but she is filled with blood, so don't eat her.

Sway and someone else -these 2 were more entertaining than Choklate. Sway and the other dude (don't know his name) switched off after each of their songs, they got the show pumping a little bit more but where still not that impressive.

The best thing about the boring openers was that it gave Travis and I plenty of time to gawk at and mock all the people around us, which I must say is highly enjoyable. First off let me just say that this show attracted the most interesting age groups; there were some teenagers, a lot of the 20's-30's crowd, and then also some in the 50's, which is all well and good but my question is, how do they know Estelle, when most people my age don't know who she is??? There was on particular lady who was standing behind us that was "dancing" and I say it like that because she was dancing how I imagine my mom would dance if someone told her to krump. She is was got us through the openers.

On to the main event ESTELLE!!!

This was my second time seeing Estelle and she brought it again! With her first song she made up for all three of the boring openers, seriously they were forgotten in an instant of her soulfully rocking the mike! Her show was just so much fun, she had three backup singers/dancer guys who were dancing like they were in a Motown group. Estelle told the stories behind the songs, which usually involved a jerk ex boyfriend, or she told the audience her dance moves to get a guy to come over and grind, then go home with. She pulled people on the stage to dance, some hilariously couldn't, but thought they could. Estelle put on a great show, and I will see her for a 3rd time if she is ever returns to Seattle.

Here is American Boy, enjoy!
