Travis and I went to Katy Perry's concert tonight at the Showbox. The evening started out with Trav and I meeting up at the Green Room for drinks and dinner before the show at the bar next to the Showbox, this allowed us to skip the line into the show. We had a great time mocking people as they arrived for the show; couple in their 50's reclaiming their youth in their "hip" clothes taking a limo to the show. Young children trying to cut the line only to be told by the door man to move it to the end of the line, and my favorite 2 girls who knew that they were hot so they could come into the bar right before the Showbox opened (the Green Room was PACKED by this time) were also told to go to the end of the line. These girls had never heard this before in their lives apparently and decided to just stand by the door and wait for the crowd to thin out. I know that they got in at sometime because I saw them later in the evening.
Into the Showbox
Trav and I decided to sit in the bar even though we could have had stood right in front of the stage, we decided that we would rather sit and not fight the crowds for the 4 hours we would be there. We got great seats and were ready to enjoy the show. Then our new best friend arrived to sit next to us, the only thing I can say about him is that he did give us plenty of comic relief throughout the night. First up we got to watch his stuff about 14 times while he ran to the bar, the bathroom, to look at posters, and who knows what else, more on him to come.
On to the show.
Up first was a band I had never heard of but thoroughly enjoyed, The Daylights. As we rocked out to their cool grooves our new BF leaned over to me and asked “Is the lead singer Ashton Kutcher? Ha Ha Ha” I politely smiled and then leaned over to Trav to tell what the idiot said; we both got a good laugh. We continued to rock out to The Daylights, after their great set I went to the lobby to buy their CD. While I was down there buying the waiting in line the band came up to sing autographs and chat with fans, and I will admit I fell a little in love with them. I spoke with Ricky first and asked him which of their 2 CDs I should by then had him sign it. Then I got Ran to sign it along with Svend, where I talked to Ricky again then got a picture with him, where it told me that “I smelled great”. Yep its official I’m going to start stalking them.

The Daylights rockin' it

Me and my new crush
While I was off with my new loves Trav was having fun with our BF, he told Travis that the band was a cross between U2 and The Jonas Brothers (I’m surprised that a bolt of lightening didn’t come out of the sky to strike him down for saying The Jonas Brothers in the same sentence as U2) then he asked him to watch his seat again.

Now it is time for the main event (even though I was completely happy with the show so far). Katy came out and did a great show; it was the first stop on her Hello Katy! Tour, she even had her own huge cat head on the stage. Katy rocked the house. Trav and I did discover a huge drawback to sitting in the bar; people are huge douches and just stand around drinking and chatting like there isn’t a show going on 30 feet in front of them. Seriously there were times when Katy was talking that I couldn’t hear her over all the assholes chatting it up around us, I don’t know why they didn’t just save their money and drink in their living rooms with MTV on in the background. Katy ended the show with a I Kissed a Girl that ended with her standing half in the audience and the crowd going crazy (if I can figure out how to edit the video I took I will put it up here). Then our new BF almost ruined it for Trav by telling us “That is all she had to do for me that was a tour de force performance!”

We had a great time at the show and I have a new band I love (and a crush) all in all it was an Awesome night!
