My Golden Globe wrap up

This is the first year that I’m almost completely pleased with the winners of the Golden Globes. There was only one glaring error made in the list of winners.

Movie- Drama
Winner-Slumdog Millionaire

I thought all 5 movies were excellent and I would have been happy with an of them winning, I was really wanting The Reader (so people would go out and see this great movie) or Benjamin Button because this movie touched my heart, but I also enjoyed Slumdog Millionaire so I was happy with them winning.

Movie – Comedy or Musical
Winner – Vicky Cristina Barcelona

I ecstatic Mamma Mia! didn’t win!! Out of the group I have only seen Burn After Reading (awful I so don’t get the Cohen brothers). In Bruges, Vicky Cristina Barcelona and Happy-Go-Lucky are in my netflix queue. You couldn’t pay me to watch Mamma Mia! I am not a fan of Meryl so this movie looks like torture plus I don’t want to watch people attempt and fail at singing.

Best Actor – Drama
Winner – Mickey Rourke

Are you kidding me!?!? He beat out Leo’s pain and rage, Frank’s bravado and demeanor, Sean’s heart and spirit, and Brad’s depth and wonder. This one still angers me!

Best Actress – Drama
Winner – Kate Winslet

OMG I am so happy!! I love Kate and it’s about time she got some GG love! If I didn’t love Kate some much I really wanted Anne to win for her amazing performance.

Best Actor – Comedy or Musical
Winner – Colin Farrell

I have nothing to say about this movie as this is the only category I haven’t seen any of.

Best Actress – Comedy or Musical
Winner – Sally Hawkins

Who?? I did enjoy her speech though she seemed very genuine. I was yet again thrilled Meryl Streep didn’t win.

Best Supporting Actor
Winner - Heath Ledger

Seriously who else was going to win this one? Heath was magnificent, and it is sad that he isn’t around to get his much deserved accolades.
Best Supporting Actress
Winner – Kate Winslet

Hell ya!! I love that this started out the evening; she was so amazing in the role!

I’m not recapping the rest of the awards but I must say I love Tina Fey and her use of one of my favorite phrases “SUCK IT!” especially in an award acceptance speech, Tina you rock!!
