Trav and I headed to The Showbox again to catch another show. This time it was the amazing Estelle! We meet at the Green Room again so that we could get into the show early and not have to wait out in the pouring rain, in the 3 minutes it me to walk from the bus to The Showbox I was drenched. We we finally got into The Showbox we got great seats in the bar and this on the quite side, thank the lord.
Now on to the opening acts, yes acts there where 3!!!
Choklate-good voice but no stage presence and she was boring. She talked about how it was funny that her name was Chokolate but she doesn't like chocolate, and that some chocolate is filled with nuts but she is filled with blood, so don't eat her.

Sway and someone else -these 2 were more entertaining than Choklate. Sway and the other dude (don't know his name) switched off after each of their songs, they got the show pumping a little bit more but where still not that impressive.

The best thing about the boring openers was that it gave Travis and I plenty of time to gawk at and mock all the people around us, which I must say is highly enjoyable. First off let me just say that this show attracted the most interesting age groups; there were some teenagers, a lot of the 20's-30's crowd, and then also some in the 50's, which is all well and good but my question is, how do they know Estelle, when most people my age don't know who she is??? There was on particular lady who was standing behind us that was "dancing" and I say it like that because she was dancing how I imagine my mom would dance if someone told her to krump. She is was got us through the openers.
On to the main event ESTELLE!!!

This was my second time seeing Estelle and she brought it again! With her first song she made up for all three of the boring openers, seriously they were forgotten in an instant of her soulfully rocking the mike! Her show was just so much fun, she had three backup singers/dancer guys who were dancing like they were in a Motown group. Estelle told the stories behind the songs, which usually involved a jerk ex boyfriend, or she told the audience her dance moves to get a guy to come over and grind, then go home with. She pulled people on the stage to dance, some hilariously couldn't, but thought they could. Estelle put on a great show, and I will see her for a 3rd time if she is ever returns to Seattle.

Here is American Boy, enjoy!
