Going Cruising!

Holy Geez!! I can not believe that I haven’t blogged about my upcoming vacation once! For those that don’t know I’m going to go on an Alaskan Cruise in (holy crap) 18 days!!! Early this year my mom asked if I would be interested in going on an Alaskan cruise and my answer was HELL TO THE YEAH! So off I was trying to find the best deal, best route just the best everything because let’s face it I deserve the only the best! We are going on Holland America on Sept 14-21. We are going to Glacier Bay, Juneau, Ketchikan, Sitka and Victoria. We are set up for our shore excursions; Dog sledding in Juneau (sadly not on snow that excursion was $588 a person!!!) and a Zip line in Ketchikan (I can’t believe I talked my mom in to that one either!). More to come soon!!

I wouldn't call this a "tour"

As we were driving around the Yakima area we saw that the Darigold plant had Cheese tours, we thought Hell yeah that sounds fun!! Here are some pictures of the tour, I let you decide if it was cool or not.

Look how happy they are to go on the tour!

Yes, this is the "tour"!!!

So this is where cheese is made.

This was my favorite part!

Farmer's Market time!

While in Yakima we went to this great farmer's market and bought tons of crazy good veggies and friut!! I bought some sweet white corn (I made some tastey corn ravioli), zuchini, blue berries, black berries and peaches.
Jenny trying to decide where the best corn is. I think she found it, cuz she got 30 ears!!!

Whoa how many peaches did we buy!
Whatcha gone to do with that squash blossom Carla?

Wait, where are we?

So this weekend we went to the Food and Wine Fair in Prossor, we stayed in Yakima because all the hotels in Prossor fill up the year before. This is the Awesome billboard that greets you as you enter!! Now I have never been to Palm Springs but after going to Yakima I don't know that I need to go there cuz the Palm Springs of Washington is a little getto!

Sopitos how I Love you!!!

When we went to the Food and Wine Fair last year we ate at this Amazing resturant in Yakima that had these amazing things called Sopitos! We all fell in love with them so much so that we ate there twice. So when we decided to go to the food and wine fair again this year we knew that we had to go and eat Sopitos!!!

Here is the name and address if you want to eat some tastey Sopitos!!!

God just looking at these photos is making me hungry for these fantasticly tastey treats!! I would drive 2 1/2 hours just to eat these things! Plus they are totally cheap, my bill came to $5 for my 2 Sopitos!!!

Before
After
As you can see everyone has a Sopito on there plates!!

Food and Wine fair

Here is my glass and program form the fair.
My favorite thing about the fair is that the first time we went last year I thought it would be in a building and slightly classy, saddly it is in the middle of a high school track. The classiest thing about it is (and when I say classy I mean classy in the chessiest way possible) the way some of the ladies are dressed up like they are going to the club.

Jenny is trying to decide where she wants to go first.

Carmel and Jenny what wine are you going to buy?

Oh wait I forgot that the classiest thing is buying you wine out of the back of a semi-truck in the parking lot!

Look how manly Chris is carring all the wine!

Road Trip!!

Road trip time! We (and when I say we I mean, Carmel, Chris, Carla, Jenny and myself) are driving to Yakima for the food and wine fair, we rented a mini van so that we could all be in the same car so that it would be more fun, and it worked!

Here Jenny is all cuddled up in the back!

Here is Carla showing me here Coffee after our Starbucks stop, I had a yummy blended tea with lemonade!

Here is Chris and Carmel, they were like our mom and dad driving us around!

And the winner is...

So sometime Carmel, Jenny and I like to have what I call a “Cute-off” that is; we like to dress up cute and see who is the cutest! Now there is no prize other than props from the other girls and the knowledge that you brought it! Well today was one of those days but it an extra special one because it was a cute/curly off. We were also seeing who could get the curliest hair, or as Jenny would say “big and sexy hair”. You can be a judge too!

Our decison was this:

Cute-off props today go to Carmel!!! Well done Carmel! Curly-off props go to ME!!

Sleeping in rollers is how I won the Curly-off!

Paddle-by-splashing

After work today Carmel, Terry, Jessalynn and I went to Agua Verdea to rent some kayaks. Today was the first time that we rented double kayaks. Jess and I together, Carmel and Terry together. Today was Terry’s first time kayaking, she did great,
Okay she looks slightly confused here.
Paddle goes in the water Terry!
I don’t know if I would let her work the rudder again she was slightly zigzagy but great otherwise. I enjoyed the double, it was steadier and easier to take pictures.
We were minding our own business enjoying the day when we were going by these two young guys, they were pretty close to us so I was trying to move away from them, they were all smiles as they proceeded to do a paddle by splashing!!!
What the Heck!!! How dare you splash us!!!!
Those two assholes splashed us for all they were worth, while we were still in shock the sped away!! I was just turning around to tell Carmel and Terry to get them, but I was too late, they were also getting splashed!!! We both tried to turn around and chase and then smack them, but turning a kayak around isn’t the fastest thing, and they were hauling ass, by the time we got going the other way they were already getting the next boat. Hopefully they get theirs soon.
Here we are meeting and decieding how to get them!!!!
The rest of the day was uneventful but fun. We just paddled over to Gas Works and floated around, chatted and snacked a little before heading back.
Snack time!!!
How did it taste Jess?
By the end Terry and Carmel were in sync!!!
Jess looks like she was having a great time!

Once you post about it goes away...

Dear Gentle Readers, never fear I'm still alive and kicking! Maybe the person I "steal" my Internet from reads my blog because I haven't been able to connect lately! Plus Travis has been on vacation for like a month so I can't legally use his either!! I have many things to share so don't fret I will be back soon.

Tennis Friday

Terry, Carmel, Tina and I played some tennis today. Wait that made it seem like it was this easy thing there is a story as to how we got to that point. Carmel and I thought that we had invited Tina and Terry the day before but apparently Terry needs more than “are we kayaking or playing tennis tomorrow?” and her answer being “I don’t want to spend any money.” My response “then tennis it is!” was not concrete enough for her. Luckily Terry doesn’t live that far from work so she could go home and change. I thought that Carmel invited Tina and Melissa but she didn’t. One of the funniest parts of the day was that I had seen Tina as I was coming in at Tullys, I was carrying my tennis bag. Then Tina went to her office and Melissa had her tennis bag that put Tina over the edge because Melissa, Carmel and I had told her that we would invite her the next time we played, and here two of us were with tennis bags and she was not invited. Tina went to Terry and was like “Shannon and Melissa have their tennis bags, were you invited to play too?” Terry says she was not and the both of them come storming up to my desk to ask why they weren’t invited! I informed Terry that she was with us when we decided to play tennis, I repeated our conversation and everything, and this is when I learned that she didn’t deem that to be a concrete plan. I also learned that we hadn’t actually invited Tina and Melissa, Melissa was playing with someone else and she didn’t invite us either!!! Terry and Tina have the same shoe size so she could borrow Terry’s shoes, it seemed like all was going to work out!
To the courts we go!!
Now the funniest yet not funny thing happened. We just got on the court Tina, Carmel and I were starting to warm up a bit, Terry wasn’t on the court yet. Tina was saying that her borrowed shoes were stiffer than she was used to so if anything happened she was going to blame it on the shoes. I swear to God she just finished saying that and wham down she went!!! It was the most spectacular fall I have seen!! One second she was getting ready to hit the ball and then she was falling on her face! She was a trooper she popped right back up laughing a little and was ready to continue with some complaint about how that hurt. I thought she was going to have a scrapped face but she amazingly didn’t, but she did jack up her hand like no ones business. It looked like she cut out huge chunks of skin off of her knuckles. Terry and Carmel where one she spot with the first aid kit they got her cleaned up and bandaged and we started playing. The best part of the story is that Terry was wearing the t-shirt that I gave her for Christmas, when I saw it I knew it was meant for her.

Sadly the bandaids don't show the amazing wounds!

For the first time we played actually games. I serve short (I got it over and in every time) Terry did comment to Carmel that she need to scoot up closer to the net, but oddly enough I hit long. I like just volleying back and for as apposed to matches because it moves faster.
