Darkside!

My slovenly darkside is taking over! My apartment’s messiness is at an all time high, and I can’t seem to make myself clean it up! My plan yesterday, on my day off was to clean the place up. What did I get done? I did the dishes and took out the trash and recycling (my least favorite thing to do, maybe that is why it took 2 trips). Clothes are still everywhere, there is stuff all over the place, and just general clutter.
Seriously I am going to have to do some more cleaning up tonight! That’s right I’m resolving to finish the clean up tonight! (I’ll let you know latter how it goes!)

Christmas party 2008

It is time for my annual Christmas party. It started long ago, in my 15th year on this earth I decided that I wanted to learn how to set and use all the silverware at a formal place setting. That year was when the Dinner Party was started! I cooked a 5 course meal for 3 of my friends and a tradition was started. I might no longer make a 5 course meal, it is now down to appetizers and desserts but it is still fun!

Carmel and Travis enjoying some tasty food.

The menu this year; Sliders, Apple and Feta Tart, Rosemary Potato Popper and Cucumber Humus Stackers. Dessert was a choice of either Lemon or Chocolate mini Tarts!

The boys chilazing.

Time for the White elephant gift exchange!

Travis showing off the gift that he stole, Carla brought the monkey she won a the Fair!

Carmel showing off the awesome doll she got, needless to say no one stole that!

Okay maybe Maggie wanted it. Well she isn't getting it, it leaves with Carmel!

Next year everyone is getting checked before they leave my house so that no one can shove there "gift" in my fridge when I'm not looking! Yeah Jim, I'm talking to you!!!!

How Many part 2

I think Maggie knows I'm blogging about her. This is day two and she hasn't knocked off one ornament, that is unless she as learned how to put them back on the tree.

How many?

Welcome to what I'm calling my new Holiday game. How many ornaments does Maggie take off the tree today?!? This is what it looks like on day 1 let's see how it looks at the end of the season after the many times I will have to redecorate it.

It must be Christmas time...

My toilet is dressed for the Holidays!

and the fun begins...

So far I only have the tree put together and Maggie is already needing to be tasered!

Swimming in Sheets

There is nothing I love more than a soft set of sheets. If I wasn’t as frugal as I am, I would pay hundreds of dollars for the softest sheets I could find! I love waking up in the morning cuddled up in soft sheets, I love going to sleep wrapped up in soft sheets, hell I love the idea of doing anything in soft sheets!! I love when I put on a fresh set of sheets, my favorite set are ones that I stole from my grandmothers house when I moved to college, they were these beautiful different shades of thick blue stripes that bleed into each other a bit.

I loved those sheets. When I would put them on my bed I loved to just slide on to the bed with nothing but the fitted sheet, my roommate used to call it swimming in my sheets. I loved those sheets so much that when I finally wore a whole in the fitted sheet I had my grandmother turn the flat sheet into the back of a quilt so that I would always have them. After looking at these amazing dark blue silk sheets for a month or so I finally bought them, I love them they are so decadent; the one problem with them is that the comforter tends to slip off the bed because the fitted sheet and top sheet together are indeed slippery as silk, but once I slip into them I forget any problem I have.

I really shouldn’t be allowed to go into a store that sells sheets because I usually come out with some. I love to walk around feeling all the different kinds of sheets they have to see which ones are the softest and then what color I would like in those sheets. I tend to lean towards blues and purples but I do have a set of maroon ones because they were incredibly soft and on sale! Today a friend and I went to Bed Bath and Beyond and I found these great sheets made from Bamboo (how cool is that) you would think that Bamboo wouldn’t be too soft but let me tell you, you would be wrong! I carried them around with me for about 30 minutes while we shopped trying to convince myself that I really needed these $85 dollar sheets. Sadly I couldn’t make myself by them, but the next time I get a 20% coupon I am going back and in the mean time I will dream about them!
